call www.bestpass.com they have an prepass, ezpass, norpass and nc pass all in one. you have to make a 100.00 deposit into 2 different accounts min (200.00 total) then you replenish every month as you use the toll money.
never did hear of the bestpass b4 but what is that like a prepaid toll pass with a prepass on it sounds convienent . iv never got a toll receipt without a time stamp on it in most cases . heck sometime i have gotten the receit after going through a toll and they have the wrong time on wich is way off which really messes with you matching with your log .
I was thinking (without checking) that "bestpass" was a company that would combine all those tolls for you, and then send you a receipt of what you've paid. Which would be legal for a tax write off. i was just hoping that the receipt didn't detail all the tolls.
Sorry to hear about you hanging up the keys grvdigr. You had really planned and thought this out for over a year and now you only ended up with a few months in the gold truck. It's good you can leave with no strings attached. Those asking about E-ZPass I got my business account in NY back when only NY and NJ used it. They only wanted $25 balance to deduct from. They then need permission to deduct a set amount from your bank based on usage. I rarely hit the NE anymore so they keep it at $25. If I go through $50 of tolls in a day they take out $25 the next day and $25 the next. Not sure if they want a bigger balance for new accounts nowadays. I don't live in NY, you can get E-ZPass from any state that has it I would imagine.
How does this maintenance fund work? Is it my money that i can access anytime or is it money they take out that I'll never see again? If you own the truck you shouldn't be forced to pay into a maintenance fund. Can you opt out of it? .10cpm is a big deduction for a o/o!
Sorry to hear about your situation gravdigr. I hope you find something local that keeps you close to home and family, and makes you some good money. I doubt many L/O's are getting rich out here. So enjoying the things that we are supposed to enjoy, home and family, in the end, seems to be more important than the money.
what i got out of reading this entire thread from start to finish i believer you pay into maintaince fund and you never see it again it is what it is , i really am not sure if you can opt out of it someone can correct me if im wrong but i think you must do the maintence . but of course im just going by what iv been hearing .
