Respectfully asking, what is the name of this particular trucking company, where is it located at?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

To comfortable as in relying on Technology to do things for them like GPS/Cell Phones or Broker/Dispatch getting them directions, a growing sense of entitlement, and I think a lot of drivers have lost respect for the road itself, the dangers of driving, which is evidenced by the rise in accidents and unprofessional-ism seen on a daily basis, The unprofessional-ism became far more noticeable moving from the driving side to the management side.

It's not most of the large fleets that train drivers all have GPS equipped ELD's in their trucks, and use forced routing/fueling. For the better part of a decade or drivers have been trained on GPS and not maps. I think if you went across most companies you would find close to half of drivers don't have a motor carrier atlas, and I think you would find most just use google to look things up/directions into places.

We have a macro setup so drivers can send in traffic reports and we will send out fleet messages based on that. A new driver thought that meant we did live traffic updates for everyone and got upset when we didn't tell him about an interstate closure in Arkansas one day. The day of drivers being self-sufficient and thinking on their feet is long gone. I would say we barley have a dozen drivers that would put on a mudflap or light instead of waiting multiple hours to get into a truck stop shop, and again I think that would be true across almost all fleets now.

Yeah the company I drive for leaves routing upto the driver... as long as its within reason. I have a truck GPS that I use mainly, but when going someplace new I always check my motorcarriers atlas, and use Google maps only for the final miles into a new place so I can look at the satellite and street view to see the lay of the land and read signs. I've also been know to call shippers and receivers for directions, but that has not always turned out well.

I do anything I can to keep the wheels turning.... I've changed brake chambers, alternators, air lines, lights, mud flaps, gladhands, and several other things myself on the road over waiting for hours to have a shop do it... if I'm sitting I ain't making money. I've even gone as far as getting a tire replaced in the middle of the night on my own dime, then submitted it for reimbursement... just so I could keep rolling.

I agree, I carry tools, lights fuses, airline fitting (push on and ferrel), tape, mudflaps, etc..... I will change what ever I can to keep the truck rolling. I ran into a Heartland driver at the T/A in Beaver Dam, AZ sitting there waiting for a mechanic that had to go get turnsignal bulbs from mesquite NV. Said he had been there for 3 hours. I took him inside the T'/A grabbed a pack of amber bulbs and then showed him how to turn a bulb socket and plug in a bulb. Amazing, he was about 25 or so, did not even carry a screwdriver.
