I'd still like to know the full story about Gov. Newsom spending $1 billion dollars in China on masks.
He refuses to reveal the details. Something stinks!

Before I was a teen I lived in an upper class home.
Parents divorced,now lower middle class.
Mom worked her butt off and we were back middle class.
Mom injured back and had a heart attack, down to below the poverty line.
I learned to be a machinist.
Brought family back to middle class.
Dotcom hit. Fight to stay lower middle class.
Gave up trying to find work machining and spent the last of my savings to get Class A.
Year-and-a-half later driving a fuel truck.
Back to middle class.
Hurt my back at work.
Had good savings so it took a little time but back to around poverty line again.
Fought to be physically able to work.
Been working four years now.
Now low middle class.
Gaining the ability to drive again.
Hopefully the next step is a step up.
1)No one owes you crap.
2)We all have the right to the pursuit of happiness.
3) There are no guarantees. We all can fail.
4) A hand up is not the same as a handout.
5) if you're rich you have advantages, if you're poor you'll be given advantages. But if you're part of the Working Poor, you're screwed.

Not sure what you have for machinist tools, lathe, milling, etc, but here's something to chew on, as it sounds like you like doing this type of work.
Guys that do resto's are always looking for a good machinist to make worn out or broken parts that they need, but can no longer find. Simply said, for some parts the only way to get them is to have them made. For some of these guys price is no object, without that part, their resto sits.
Start small, building your business as you go, stick with it. Over time, if you're good, your name will become known among the circles of these resto guys. They will seek you out. Like the saying, "if you build it, they will come."
I have a brother, master machinist, he has the knowledge & the tools, there's virtually nothing he can't make, but he lacks one important attribute, ambition.... -
Give me a blueprint and the tools and I can make you an engine. I did prototype work.
Just don't ask me to make it run. I'm a YouTube mechanic.
I still have all my measuring tools but no lathe or mill. Been some time since I've been in a shop. -
When I was a kid my dad saved his money from his window washing business and started a construction business .
4 kids to a bedroom and we sometimes moved twice in the same month because the house we were living in was always for sale as were the other 2 he was building next door to us.
I started sweeping houses and picking up the wood scraps when I was 6. My dad would pay me .25 and hour.
I bagged up the wood scraps in grocery bags and pulled my wagon around the neighborhood and sold a bag of wood for firewood for .25 a bag.
Than one of the guys on my route said I ought to start collecting the newspapers because recycling would pay like .15 for every 100 pounds.
I had a good litter racket going on .. Dad would collect most of my money and make us pay room and board .
We kids never had an allowance.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Back to the original thread, and @Chinatown main idea, which I believe: he is pointing out what he considers to be an abuse of an already generous housing assistance program in the UK. Recent immigrant, who brought an unusually large family with him, and increased the size of that family, most of which is done with assistance of the "taxpayers". He consumes far more than he produces in society.
Clearly in his country of origin, Cameroon, this sort of activity would not be tolerated or subsidized.
In earlier cultures, he and his family would simply starve to death. No culture or society in history has ever survived taking more than they produce.
The problem with ALL of these taxpayer assisted programs, in ALL of the G20( 20 largest economies in the world) is all of it is being done with borrowed money(bonds).
The single graphic on this link does an effective job of putting this phenomenon in perspective.
$69 Trillion of World Debt in One Infographic
The world is broke, in other words. We can no longer borrow ourselves out of debt.
