Careful with this plan. This is also how mega companies get into multivehicle wrecks. Some one follows closely enough to see tail lights. The problem is, they are closer than they realize and SMACK.

I try to slow down enough where I can count about 5-6 seconds from the time I see it until it passes my fender. Last night 65 was only about 3 seconds... Not enough to get stopped. The speed limit was 75. So going 45 i had about 5 seconds stop time. It was almost half the limit. Thats why i was wondering about hazard flashers.

I’m not trusting this crap I have either for that.

I functioned just fine for years without that, and there will never be day when I start flying on instruments. Leave that mess to airplanes.

That’s why you don’t ride their butts, driver. Some of us do know a little better than that. ;)

If the fog is so thick I can’t see tail lights at a safe following distance, I’m slowing to a crawl or parking it.

Hazards are always a good idea especially if you are slow traffic. Tho if the fog is thick enough you may as well park it. Tho good luck finding a place to park at night.

    TravR1 Thanks this.

Thats the issue I often run into. Its even worse when I have a spell of fatigue and I need to park for a nap.

If you are going significantly slower than everyone else in the fog, then yes, you are the hazard.

No one is getting BLINDED by hazard lights flashing.... Are you kidding me????? Get off the ROAD if a hazard lights are blinding you.

And if your so tired that you run into a fladhing lights... Your doing it wrong.

Please now go and get scissors and cut up your cdl.

The guy driving for the conditiond with flashers on is doing it right...

The guy that crashed into him... Is doing it wrong!!!! And should be sent to prison.

Glare shmare, Lots of bad advice here.

Every highway has a minimum speed limit, some are posted.
The rule is...., if you're at or below the minimum speed limit, you are required by law to use your 4 way flashers.
Use your 4 ways in fog if you feel you're moving slower than other traffic, that's why they call them warning lights, to let others know you may be a hazard.

Also, not every truck is wired to flash the brake lights like somebody implied.
