Where is the VPOD located? I am having issues where it runs fine then boom, I start losing power, the check engine light comes on. Lift on the throttle and the check engine light goes out. Pull over let it sit for awhile and it runs fine again for awhile.

I located the vpod on my 14liter to the left of the oil filters near the bell housing.

Its 07 Freightliner.

When I drive and apply normal throttle, or even just have cruise control on set at lets say 55mph. The truck boosts up to 25-28 psi then goes down to 0-5psi then boosts up to 25+ psi again. And it just keeps doing that all day. Back and forth back and forth. When the boost drops you cant hear the turbo, but you can hear this squeaking noise. But if you apply more throttle it boost up right away.

Just replaced the EGR valve I though that was a problem. But did not solve it, went out for a test run bobtail. Same thing, cutting in and out.

The truck idles fine. Sounds like a jet engine. The actuator does not move up or down on idle. Its steady. When you start the motor and there is no air in the system. When air builds up the rod goes up and the fan switches off.
I was thinking maybe my actuator is leaking. But it would show on idle as well. Engine revs smooth except at 1500 there is a small hiccup I can feel it.
I'm trying to find out when I'm driving why is my boost go up and down. Even on a straight road no hills. Something cutting off the boost and then lets it boost up and cut off. And just keeps cycling like that. Getting like 5.5mpg and no power after 35mph.

Yep. It was the VPOD. Easy fix, just expensive. ($480.00 plus core)

I'm having same problem. Cutting boost in and out. Even on flat ground. 3 shops no one knows. Dynamo machine breaks down b4 it's my go to be tested. The only one in my area.
V pod good . Replace brand new turbo. Changed tps . Still no luck

Try running a manual regen. I've noticed that when it's plugged it'll have erratic turbo boost, and will go back to working smoothly after a regen.

Started with cutting out of the turbo and an occasional CE light that would go on and off. We have now replaced the turbo twice. >:[ The problem persists. It will run fine for days or even weeks then suddenly while driving the turbo shuts off and we have to pull over and shut the truck off. Sometimes it will reset immediately, sometimes if we pry the plunger up on the turbo it will fix it. Sometimes it has to sit for an hour to reset. When it does reset sometimes it will work for days, sometimes only 5 miles before it happens again. Mechanics are all to happy to tear it apart to "find" the problem, charge me an arm and leg only to have the problem "re-appear". I'm frustrated and ready to cut my losses and drive it off a cliff. I don't want to spend more money on parts and labor that is doesn't need( like another $2300 turbo). can anyone give me specific advice on what to check before I spend more thousands on it.

I found and repaired a big air leak on the line going into the vpod. It made zero difference. So i guess replacing the vpod is next.

Right side ( passenger side) of engine just ahead of the flywheel housing mounted on the side of the block.
