i've got about 60K miles on it so far. runs good, did over 7 mpg all summer. about 6.5-ish now. i think it's a million and a half miles on this motor. it has blow by,but oil consumption isn't bad. slowly fixing it up. the pre 2000 exclusion on the ELD rule really makes me glad i have an older truck.
i think that rule, and fuel prices are gonna inspire a lot of guys to finally do that restoration of an old truck they've always wanted to do.
mine is an old MS carriers truck. 9 speed direct and 3.3x gears. geared for 55mph. it needs a 13. with the 3.3X gears a single overdrive unit would do. i want to get a 12 or 14L 60 series to rebuild and have ready to swap into it. but otherwise the 11 is staying put,it just runs great. pulls nicely, especially for a 350.
few pics.
didn't wanna cut holes in the cab, made a rear lite panel.
made a visor from scratch,as visors for the regular cab don't fit.
me and cal at Kwik Trip Racine wi,.
the paint work on the cab will have to wait til spring. this is as far as i got. the whole roof is done. thinking white cab, blue rally stripe up the roof. but also may just go blue like the frame with white strip. white is more forgiving to apply tho.
