    I have a Cobra 29 LX.
I WATCHED a YouTube video. On how
To crank it to maximum modulation.
    Counterclockwise.
But for the final, I do not have a watt meter. So idk how it will sound.

I did it, I didn't watch any YouTube crap, I used the proper equipment and aligned it right.

Take it to someone who knows what they are doing which is rare nowadays.

Get it properly aligned, and tuned a little bit.

Unmodified should outperform most textbook service manual tunes. I'd leave it alone.

What about a radio with low modulation out of the box?

    Night Stalker10 Thanks this.

There is a variance in radios but in general a outta the box is better than many tech's tune..

What I meant was, if the stock out of the box radio's modulation is low, you can turn that up without hurting anything, right? As long as you're not excessive?

i used to have a cb shop near me. i'd get mine tuned. if i bought a cb online, like from Iowa80, they'd tune it.

i gave up on spending any extra monies, for such stuff, and would only buy a really good noise cancelling mic.

take it to a shop, do not chance this on your own.

it could even be your antenna is in need of a tune.

I bought my President McKinley stock, had nothing done to it, and all I did once I got it was crank up the modulation to 100% (was about "maybe" 75% from factory) and turn the ssb up to 12w...(factory had ssb set at about 6w.)

Best sounding radio I have had in a long time, from what people tell me anyway
