Sorry if I didnt catch this, did you check for power in the overhead? I have the same truck, but an '18. Power is on all the time to the overhead. Even with key off.
@olddog_newtricks I'm gona pass it forward for free, when I get home to get mine. If I can figure out how to install it. @DustyRoad I'm confused. I didnt see numbers on the responses. So I counted and post 20 was my post. I'm guessing I missed something. @Crude Truckin' I did not check for power up top. I did think about it. But honestly, its my bosses truck that he is gonna put on the market in August. So I decided not to mess with it. Here is the how ever to that statement. This c.b. is getting really hot. And I don't know if thats normal. And with only Haveing a 6 inch antenna wire. I might end up looking to see if I can get a extentention wire for the antenna and the power ground. To run it to the seat when I get my cb in here. How is yours set up? When I get into his 2006 truck. That one I dont mind mangleing that one, Cause I think he already did.
You need a standard 18ft ant cable or it will fry the output transistors....nothingless. its ohms law....resistant = heat / reduces power and range.
Yes definitely stop using it until it's powered and grounded correctly. Unidens are solid stock performers but heat will kill them quick
