I request from HireRight every year a copy of my record. Luckily it has always been correct. One place I was with liked to lie a lot, so I was VERY interested in what they may have put on my record.
I also noticed it seems the companies wait until you're no longer with them before they report anything. My last one I requested, I was with SNI for a year before I asked for it. There was nothing on there from them at all.
May be an odd thing to ask, can a company come back after you've been gone, say, a year, and add/subtract anything?:biggrin_25524:

One more thing I noticed. Your report will also list anyone who has made a request for your info. I had a few companies that I'd never even talked to make requests for my info. Not sure what that was all about.:biggrin_25526:

I have had two companies, Swift and Gainey both report that they fired me on my DAC! The only connection I had was that I filled out one of those mass company applications on the internet. It was a mess, but I finally got it taken care of. This is one good reason to steer clear of the mega-carriers. They will put whatever they want on your DAC, and then its you and your wallet that has to take care of it. My advice, don't fill out those mass apps on the internet, and oh yeah, don't work for the mega-carriers!

was you asking me to be your co-driver/lawyer.........????

DAC/HireRIght, is a credit reporting company, they will have regulations on them they have to follow, but no one particular "watch dog" looking over them. this is why i would recommend becoming a member of the OOIDA. anyone can join, owner-operators or drivers. the OOIDA has fought DAC at least once if i am not mistaken.

YES they can, add/subtract, even wipe everything clean......!! this i know, because i have had it happen to me........!!

as i stated above, DAC/HireRight is a credit reporting company. they will take all inquiries about you and report back to you when you ask. just as if you applied for a car loan, credit card, home mortgage.....thing here though, unlike a bank or whatever, all those inquiries WILL NOT affect you like several bank inquiries would. its been said, "too many financial institutions showing up on a credit report sends a bad message when you need financing"...........just NOT with DAC though.........

    NDBADLANDS Thanks this.

you don't, unless when you walk in, you ask........

but it will not matter too much longer, when CSA2010/2011 comes on line.......there will be no running away.

but to get back briefly with your question, a few "last men standing" mom and pop companies may "not be" DAC subscribers. otherwise, nearly every mega-carrier and mid-sized company will be subscribers to DAC, or Sterling, yet another DAC like company..........

Rerun is right, a lot of smaller companies do not use DAC because it is expensive. See the advantage of working for the smaller companies!

There are over 700,000 trucking companies according to FMSCA in 2007 and a little over 2500 subscribe to DAC. Mainly being the larger carriers.

That doesn't stop one company from calling another company during the prehire process. They can get info from each other without a DAC report. You don't know what's said then.

By law all they can report is the dates you were employed.

yes this is true..........only start, end dates............

but that's not going to stop an employer from talking with contacts, to get information.
