Do I have to log this?

    yep, an excellent way of looking at things.

    but when bobtail, under no dispatch and you are simply dropping it off at the truck "store", what is the real difference??

    as I say no different than a shop mechanic taking a truck to the dealer.

    your mindset is also why when I do personal conveyance it is logged by flagging beforehand, the majority of guys wait until they get checked to claim personal conveyance, if you can whip out the book with it already flagged, it gives ya something to hang yer hat on.

    As a self-employed person you have to fight the urge to over-think some of this stuff. If I was home; ran a few miles to drop off at a shop......then back home a day later and fueled up on the way.....it would never show up in a log book. Miles of course would be accounted for on IFTA.......but good grief man........you can get just too carried away!!!!!
