I read it as he would give up his rented place if he got an OTR job and was wondering what to do with his car

What if his car was his rented place? Then would he still need a car & a house? Can you fit those into a 53' trailer & move around as you please?

Getting into this industry myself I know the first year will be spent on the road with not much hometime. I also have several vehicles plus a house with a mortgage payment. If there is one thing I've learned over the years it's that my hasty decisions have rarely turned out to be GOOD decisions. I would keep the car for awhile to see what the future holds for you. As my Dad always told me, "A LOT can happen in a year".

No, but if he wants to give it away I'll take it off his hands. I'm a nice guy like that. Just sign the title, Lol.

Keep the car. You will need it to live in while you are in between jobs.

Try not to quit your job in the winter.
