do i need a pure sine wave inverter to run a printer?

    I second this. Epson makes a series of all-in-one wireless units called the Workforce series. I use the Workforce 635 which is wireless, has scanning, fax, printing, etc. but also offers slots for memory cards of various types, and will allow you to set up the printer as a file server. So with a 64 GB memory card you can have a wireless file server on hand for back ups and other handy uses. The WF 635 was the only all in one I found that would fit in the upper cubby hole. The XP one in the quote above looks about the same dimensions as the workforce.
