I'm sorry, I meant that I wanted 80+ hours in a PAY PERIOD, which for me is every TWO WEEKS. I only work about 3-4 days per week and get only 30-35 hours. I WISH I was making $990/week!!! And no, I do not have an "O" restriction. I only have air brakes on my VA CDL A. And yes, growing up around DC I have PLENTY of experience dealing with knuckleheads on the road. I am 42, btw.

O.K. , big difference there . It's still not advisable to leave any job to gamble on OTR . A member here just said her husband went through school and seemed to be doing fine but was told he failed a test at orientation and got sent home . It happens all too often . Megacarriers have no personal concern for drivers at all .

to be honest here, now im sure the fan boys will scream but oh well.most and in i'd say 75% or more of the people that start out otr never make it past the first 6 months.the rest that do end up making 200 to maybe 500 a week and struggling for the first year.most of the time people have to get past that 1 hard year and then move on to a better company and or local.it's not all rosey like the lil cdl schools make it out.

all those adds you see saying"make 45/50k first year"well they are blowing smoke, sure a few may get to do it but not many.is the work just not there?yeah it's there to be had,but the problem is 1 of many.a dispatcher can make or break YOU.bottom line, other factors include do you trun down loads,##### and moan, have a family you need to be home to see?things like that.but the way it works in this mega mills is they don't give a #### about you for the most part.they will mis manage YOUR hos.meaning they know you have been driving all day to your drop, then you will sit there for 1 to 4 hours maybe longer.then after knowing you have been up all day they will wait till the last min then drop a hot load on you"no pun intended".

another way it works out is,they will give you a load and then make you sit for a day or so way out in bfe.meat loads lmao,iv'e had to sit in tarheel nc a few times waiting.

not that waiting is bad heck it's part of the job hurry up and wait.but it's all in the dispatchers management of his board.iv'e worked for some that are on point and keeps you moving, then i've had some that are braindead and have you sitting ALOT.

now all this depends on you in the fact of,do you have a family?are you single and have no tie downs.if you are single and nothing holding you down then it's a perfect lil gig.because you can withstand all of the above easier than a person that has alot of family bills and upkeep.

    so hope this helps
