And to the messy bed syndrome, was the newbie CDL holder a couple of years ago who got a violation for having only a sleeping bag on his bed, in the dear state of Minnesota. I don't remember what the guy's handle on here was.

I remember reading about that.
Ok, mental note: Sheets and blankets are much safer than a sleeping bag.
I was thinking I would take all my sleeping bags to goodwill, but that may be a hazard for the poor. I'll just cut them up and use them for dog beds. I hope they are safe for my dog if cut up?
Y'all must just shake your head when you hear rules like this. I'd love to see the powers that be, explain the hazard of sleeping bags.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
We had a driver put OOS for having a suspended license for a citation in his personal vehicle. He paid the fine, even had the paperwork showing it was paid off. Tennessee trooper claimed their computer showed it was suspended. Turns out it wasn't. A simple call to the Texas DPS would have cleared up the confusion especially since the driver had supporting documentation that the fine was paid in full and case was closed.

The sleeping bag should be ok for dog bedding. You might try getting a hot glue gun and gluing the cut edges together where they can't pull the stuffing out as easy. Glue guns are great things to have around for stuff like that.bergy Thanks this.

I think 90% of the time it just depends on the demeanor of the driver when stopped. Professional looking or pj's and flip flops, nervous or calm, clean truck or cluttered and dirty, messy hair like you just rolled out of the bunk. Attitude and image makes a huge difference with a lot of LEO's and how your inspection goes...I've had several of every lv. All clean.

I get asked all the time if I use to be in law enforcement no BS I have had ten clean inspections in the last three years, in April I was inspected in SD level 2 clean three weeks later was stopped in LA in Hammond level 3 again clean no problems not sure what the big deal is keep good tires on your truck they won't look any harder if you have all different tires worn out chopped up that's a good sign how you keep up with the rest of your truck!!

I got pulled into the bay in Umatilla, OR for a level 1 less than one mo. in a truck. I acted professionally and polite and my company has a good safety score. CLEAN. The officer treated me with equal respect in turn and shook my hand before he sent me on my way.
Doesn't seem to be a big deal if you got your act together and a decent attitude about it. Just sayin... -

So true 'olhand, whenever I got called in a scale, I always made sure I was respectful and used proper English, and it always worked out better. I've seen drivers get belligerent in scales, and get hauled away in handcuffs. I even had a DOT officer compliment me on my clean truck, and said, if we see a clean truck, it usually means, the driver is a safer driver and more likely to follow the rules.
