I drive local now. It's many pickup and deliveries per day, unlike over the road. It's got it's pros and cons, but I am home every night.I find myself doing pre-trips on my pickup. Also when I go shopping I end up heading to the back of the store for the unloading dock. When I am driving my pickup I forget I am allowed on any road. What do I do?Take the roads that don't have weight limits and low bridges.I do think I am burnt out.Could someone tell me otherwise?

I recently downsized from an Excursion to a mini-van, and while they're definitely small in comparison to a truck...the difference between the size of the 2 of them really messed me up for a while. The bigger vehicle was definitely easier to drive!

I took a job driving a roll of truck for a while. It was a single unit not tractor trailer and every time I backed it up for a week I turned the wheel the wrong way when I had to turn

Lol, I do the same thing! Every time I come out from a store, I automatically walk around the car and then realize what I am doing. But, I am looking from damage from some freak that doesn't have a clue how to back out of a parking spot. I had the entire side of my pickup scraped and damaged from the driver of a new Cadillac, no less, who apparently has more money than they do brains. I don't go looking for the loading dock, but I am always parking as far away as possible -just a habit I picked up after parking the semi in a store parking lot so many times that - well, driving is driving.
What I can say about your "oddness" is that there's certainly nothing WRONG with doing a pretrip on your personal vehicle!!

I live in Indiana and it's cold right now,my wife won't go to walmart with me because I end up parking so far away.I was there the other day but she drovw,to my suprise,we pull in and there's a werner truck parked across 4 spots in the front of the store-bobtail of course. We had to park out in bfg so laughed my way all the way in cause she #####ed about it.Go figure,I drive and she hates truckers, makes for some interesting conversations. And yeah I pretrip the vehicles, cause if I don't,she won't tell me when somethings wrong!:biggrin_25513:

My family notices my wide turns and my placement to the outside of curves in the road. I have a Pontiac Bonneville and when I get out of the truck after a few weeks on the road it seems like I have fallen out of my truck because I am so close to the road.

My husband always had the problem of when he would come home on the weekends that while driving our car he would try to push the clutch, set the parking brakes and even turn corners like he had a big trailer on the back. And we had just a little two door cavilier. My favorite one though was in the truck he had to manualy roll down the window and my car had automatic windows and he was constantly reaching for the door to roll it down.

I do the same thing now. I drive a straight truck currently, and from time to time turn the wheel in the wrong direction. Also, when I take the parking brakes off the straight truck, I tend to try and take the trailer brakes off too.
