Make sure when you self cert with your state DMV, that you get some kind of receipt or confirmation, stating that it was received by the DMV. Remember...it's the DMV!!

You may want to double check that info.

My understanding is that a failed physical, over rides a prior passed physical.

For what it is worth, in my original post I wasn't asking about a failed physical. I'm not sure if that changes your responses but thought I would mention it.

Having becomimg "schooled" on BP readings, over the last few years, I can relate the following. My D.O.T. doc is a retired Air Force Flight Surgeon and does my FAA & DOT exams, which are actually about the same.
The measure BP correctly ( & believe me even my regular doc doesn't follow the rules ).
1.) BP should be take AFTER waiting/resting for a minimum of 15-minutes.
2.) The cuff needs to be of the correct sizing.
3.) The cuff needs to be at or ABOVE the level of the heart.
4.) When in doubt...wait another 15-minutes and take a reading while laying down.

#1,#2 &#3 really do make a difference. Screw up on all, you will get an incorrect reading. I've shown 3 Dr's the proof.

It is NOT at all uncommon for us to get "White Coat Hypertension" I do....& even my BP monitor says your BP will likely be ,lower @ home. Been like that all my life.

But as noted before, the last one is the one that counts if you work for that carrier.

    Good Luck

Those portable bp machines are very inaccurate.you're wasting your time if you have anyplace with portable machines take your blood pressure.I had Walgreens take mine a day before a physical,it was sky high even though I was on bp medicine.I immediately went to my clinic they retook it and it was normal.the nurse told me those portable machines aren't accurate.far as not being accurate during your physical, that could be true but there's many other things that could cause a high reading or no matter what the only thing that will keep it under control is medicine.

When I did mine in November, after passing, the nurse said that she just had to enter my info on the system and I would be good to go. I didn't think to ask her exactly what system, but as I understood it, there was a DOT or FMSCA system that she would be entering my details on.

I dread taking another physical with a company and getting someone who doesn't know what they are doing or that insists on using those automatic machines. It is so easy for a 2 year card to vanish only to be replaced with a 1 year card and a misdiagnosis of hypertension.
