Double Fatal hit & run by semi driver

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. —

One driver is in custody in Palm Beach County after their alleged involvement in a hit-and-run in Brevard County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, on Friday morning just before 10 a.m., a tractor-trailer was traveling south on Interstate 95. A Ram 1500 was parked in the shoulder. Two surveyors were walking on the right grassy shoulder when the tractor-trailer ran off the roadway.


The tractor-trailer struck the pickup truck then the two surveyors. After the crash, the tractor-trailer fled the scene. According to FHP, the two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP said the driver of the tractor-trailer, Hassan Abdirahman Sheikh Ali, 36, of Charlotte, North Carolina was stopped in Palm Beach County and was arrested on two counts of hit and run involving death.

Driver Ali stated that his flip flop got stuck on the accelerator pedal. He was only able to remove it 130 miles later when the police attempted to pull him over.

First the two surveyors were standing in front of their pickup. Second, the driver does not speak English. I found all this out in less than a minute without consulting with any social media platforms.

Personally his inability to communicate in English probably isn’t the reason for the accident but there you have it.

My thoughts are that the carrier owner should be arrested and charged since they’re the ones responsible for safety.
