Dude i really am sorry you lost your dad. Losing mine was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with.

I just don't feel it's my bosses responsibility to get me back home for emergencies. Obviously i expect to get time off work for such things, but to pay for me to go home? Nope.

 

Thanks, but, that kind of thinking is exactly why trucking companies treat drivers like #### and get away with it . I was not asking to pay myou way, my last company flew me to California to Team up with my uncle so that goes to show you the difference in the big companies compared to a smaller one.

 

Oh, BTW I'm not a dude lol, please don't get me wrong , we all accept different things but myself I refuse to work for a Company that has no heart. What about my last loads they never paid me, is that okay too? There were a lot of issues not just my dad passing away.

 

When I get to PHX, I will give it a week or so to get invited to an orientation with some company that does them there. Honestly I wouldn't hire me with my record of only working 3 or 4 months. I've done this 5 times in the last three years and always have been successful as soon as I get off the plane at Sky Harbor Airport.

Because my CDL expires in April, I will not waste too much time in AZ if I cannot get hired on for flatbed or dry van. Instead, I will travel to PA and renew my CDL early and add a haz mat endorsement to it and go through that process and all it entails with fingerprints, etc. That will open more doors for me and I will get hired by some desperate company on the east coast.

 

you know when i finished my 200 hours with a mentor (swift) I didn't HAVE the say or the luxury to 'choose' what division I'm working in. To the OP, you consented to work for swift, Swift doesn't work for you, you work for them. And how is Reefer any different from VAN? Some of you new guys are soft man......seriously grow a pair

 

That should work out ok. You can always sign up with a temp service and still get steady work. Sometimes with temp services it gives you a chance to sample several companies in a short period of time and find something you will stick with.
