Even when I didn't have a APU I found a way to keep the truck idling. When I was OTR I'd get a hotel for reset a couple times a month, but it was usually a rest area, ramp, or truck stop with no shade

I see guys in 87+ under the sun with nothing running all the time... I think even the carrier and tripak and factory electric compressors make noise. Factory usually has a condensor with fan on the back

On my old century my AC would just not work for four summers straight. Kept trying to fix it, mechanic couldn’t, I couldn’t. Texas summers. The AC would only work in the winter.

I drove that truck for four summers all around texas drinking 2 gallons of water a day and burning 3 bags of ice each day. Half the time I’d drive in boxers only and put clothes back on to get my BOL signed. Would soak a rag in the cooler and put it over my neck. When it’s 100 degrees outside, it’s easily 120 sittin still. I’d get so exhausted I’d have to nap, it was like sleeping in a sauna.

Still had to make money, just hunkered down a tried to speed through those summer days.

point is that 87 is a breeze
