Evening everyone...Thought it was time to update this thread. Traci R put out an 8 minute message on the Qualcomm that could easily have been cut down to 30 seconds. The gist of which is "We like them and they are coming " more or less. He went through how incredibly successful the cameras have been at the test dispatches and even took time to boast about the 5 drivers the cameras had gotten fired and 3 were pending(whatever that means)..couldn't contain his glee actually. He even put out a video of one of our drivers having an accident and purported to show that our driver had been doing everything right to avoid a collision. However he neglected to note that the driver was speeding and singing as well as adjusting his radio....yep. Even though we were right, legal dept settled with the driver just to keep from going to court..yea that camera saved the day I guess. I believe the cameras and mics should be in the trucks after the 1st of the year as the company will be flush with cash after the holidays and it will be easy to talk the big bosses to part with the cash and they figure most of the older hands will retire then...or be fired Everyone take care out there
we settled outside of court because the driver of the car thought it was a 4 way intersection and pulled out in front of him. He knew he was in the wrong and didn't stand a chance fighting it.
Didn't here that there was a settlement. That's ridiculous if we actually did. Car was obviously in the wrong in so many levels, not paying attention and video evidence proved this. Hopefully settlement was car driver insurance paying for damages and lost time to our equipment and driver involved
You speak the truth. It's really getting bad and only going to get worse. GREED is all that matters anymore. I talked to a 4 plus million accident free driver today and he said the same.
I wonder if you could tell me what your definition of "getting really bad" means to you? Sorry I don't see it, are changes coming? Yes, of course, but I don't see the point of staying the course if it means the end of the private fleet.
When all that matters is profits and the people who work for you really don't matter any longer. It's really getting bad. Change happens everywhere but even 1 million in net profits per hour is not enough. Taking away the 6/2,6/3,3/6,3/2,7/7 5/5 programs. Driver facing cameras. No drivers allowed to start before 08:00. No more drop yards with pre loaded trailers. Pick up from vendors directly meaning more live loads. Non stop delivering groceries.Doing away with drop trailers in grocery docks. The health insurance is a complete joke.We get a whole 1 penny raise every January but unless you are a set run driver how do you really get a raise when you're miles get cut from sitting in the dock either loading or unloading. The moral at stores, d.c's and among drivers is as low as I have seen it in my 18+ years at Walmart. Management doesn't care anymore unless you're one of the good ole boy or girls who donated or volunteers for Wal-Mart sponsored programs that either gets Walmarts name in the local paper or a tax write-off. The end of the private fleet will happen eventually because it's all about GREED. None of this was meant towards you personally. You asked, I answered.
