Sounds like an upgrade to me. Better than the old Astro van I'm living in now, at least

THAT'S what I'm talking about, right there. There's a whole lot of this country I want to see.

Yikes! Don't think a "live to work" philosophy is healthy. I prefer a work to live. I'm sure not whole lot of people on their deathbed lament " I wish i had more money " You can't take it with you. I get by on 70 hours every 2 weeks for past 20 years.

I whole-heartedly agree, but you can't fault a man or woman, in this day and age, who actually wants to work. We'll see how long until burnout starts to set in.....

I'd try and avoid the largely "regional fleets" and these are very numerous today. Try and focus on the true 48 state fleets which are heavily centered around refrigerated carriers. If you're going to be out 30 days a month, you need as many miles as possible so you're not trashing around truck stops any more than necessary, pulling your hair out. There's still plenty of time left in the mandatory 10 hour breaks to unwind. Don't need weeks full of 14-16 hour breaks and miserable 2,000 mile weekly paychecks that often come with short and medium haul lengths typically associated with regional fleets.

Fewer long hauls is far better than many short hauls [for maximizing available hours and keeping to your preferred driving style and hours]

I stay out 3 to 4 months at a time. I am supposed to go home every other weekend. My company does not encourage it. It makes me happy, so they leave me alone.

You'll have time for that when you're living in a van down by the river.

Dude. If this (small space working environment) is a concern for you then truck driving is perhaps the last career choice you should be making. I just assumed that was understood.

As far as the duration goes. Different strokes for different folks. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
