Guys did you see this guy said he made over 300 grand in one year as a pilot. He's going to be seriously disappointed as a truck driver.
Uh oh - this is what I was afraid of. (I’m also someone considering becoming a truck driver.) is the pay close to 200k annually?
No, but you'll be surprised how much you can comfortably live on when life and career changes occur. ~ Friend of mine was banking $100K per year and did that for 10 years. That means he banked $1 million dollars, and that doesn't include interest. When that job came to an abrupt halt, he was prepared.
I figured trucking would be a paycut from my last flying job. Fortunately I live pretty modestly. I’ll likely never see that kind of income again. For the past six months I’ve been delivering food with DoorDash and we’re surviving on it alright. Driving a truck should be a step up from that.
Got in with a decent mid sized company and made over $70K my first year as a rookie, on pace To make more than that my third year. However, I don’t believe I conducted myself like the typical rookie. Not trying to toot my own horn but I drove my you know what off the first year. I only took about 20 days of home time. Not many people can handle that honestly. You have some notion of what it’s like to work away from home as a pilot but it’s a whole different cup of tea out here driving over the road. I stay out 35 to 45 days at a time. This I’ve just finished my second year I’ll be honest it’s starting to get to me. Having those, “whats life about, sitting in a tin can 45 days at a time?” thoughts. lots of games, lots of broken promises and BS. If you don’t get on with a good company to start, you probably won’t last because you’ll be disgusted with it.
#### man, I stand corrected. Apologies if my early statement clouded things. Regardless, a guy like you is going to be an extremely valuable asset to any company; and any smart company is going to treat you very well. Welcome to the road.
Tropic Ocean Airways needs a PIC if you have a rating for a Caravan and Floats. A friend of mine just left to fly for some Billionaire. There based out of the Miami Seaplane Base and also the Hamptons and NYC. They also code share with Jet Blue. Good Luck!
Um. No. Not even close. I'm a pilot and A&P mechanic and this job pays more than both, but not near 200K.
