Reversing with an auto sucks. In everyone I've used you can either back too fast or slow, stopped, slow, stopped, roll forward, slow, stopped, stopped, too fast.

Been using only Eaton autos I see. Go drive something with an iShift or a DT12 in it. Both transmissions are really good in reverse, unlike the Eatons.
They both have a creep mode that actually works, and is very well controlled by just the throttle.

    SteerTire and tscottme Thank this.

The new Paccar/ Eaton Endurant operates just like a four wheeler automatics, take your foot off of the brake pedal and it starts to move at an idle. This transmission was designed from the ground up to be an auto shift so it is a much smoother operation, where as the Eaton ultra shift was a manual gearbox retro fitted to be an auto shift and therefore it’s not as smooth as the gearboxes designed to be auto shifts.

    tscottme and x1Heavy Thank this.

    You are welcome.

I should have phrased my previous post to better reflect the software limitations that need reprogramming.

I don't care about smooth. I just need the #### thing to shift properly when the engine work load requires it properly. And a manual mode that allows me to stay in one gear all the way up the Rocky Mountain pass. (OR down)

With all of my manual trucks unless I was backing up a hill, I only backed at idle speed.

Has yours got the shift handle like a car? You should be able to drop it down to m then use the buttons to shift up and down. It's going to beep when you try to shift into a gear that it doesnt want to be in. I've driven 2 trucks with the Eaton 10 and the truck I'm in now has the paccar 12 and its world better

All auto shifts have a manual mode, some companies disable it.

Everytime my battery gets disconnected my trans goes to default shifting. It's horrible. After a few days I notice it starts shifting to my driving. The manual mode is horrible but 1400 max in manual . I have found that if your doing alot of mountain driving. Turn on your Jake to the lowest setting. When u need to downshift. Left off the accelerator and back on quick. It will DOWNSHIFT AND WILL PASS ITS THRESHOLD WHICH MEANS. you will be able to Rev it up alot higher past its governed rpm settings. 1900 normally. Downside. Works great in the Jake's lowest setting. Stage 2 or higher in the jake will make it shift lower doubling down gears. U will see.

Then those companies are the idiots for disabling it. They should be diplomatically shown the error of their way and have it restored to the drivers. I understand there is some technology with these things, But refuse to be caged into one without a manual option.
