    Enough of this ...

YOU CANNOT FORCE A HUMAN BEING TO ADAPT HIS LIFE INTO AN 'ELECTRONIC' QUARRDROM.

It would be like your bank Telling you.."Hey,You cant write checks anymore...You MUST use a computer and do your banking electronically...

Sorry Folks, But this ever so Changing 'electronic' society is Ruining Life as we know it.......Everyone is in a Hurry, Camera This,EOBR That,Blackbox This and Text That....

Its bad enough I have to use a Computer at all..(my wife helps me here at home)

Forget about it...........It just Proves 1 thing..And 1 thing only..........Society cannot be trusted anymore!

    And Thats That

I agree that we are in a big hurry and that technology will probably be our downfall, but elogs are no big deal. It doesn't shut the truck off when u go over hours. If u are an o/o u can use it however u want. I am old school, though I just started driving and only 32, my uncle use to take me on trips and 3 log books all of which I have seen. I am only one who knows where they are kept. I have done paper and elogs. I'm company driver and I have to say elogs are just better for me and work better for me. I don't have to worry about when I start to 14 or when have to do half hour break. It reminds me.

Look drivers...its a matter of perspective. They work for me but may not work for u. That is okay. I don't think anyone should be forced on them. I think its a privacy issue. I chose company that had them. My decision. I have to live with it. But old timers need to stop whining and getting on us younger folks for liking them. Younger guys need to understand that the old drivers have been on paper for so long and it works for them. To each their own I say.

0-1 year and your telling me to plan better? Lol. Go back to playing your Xbox my truck rolls when I am ready. I am out trucking for freedom of planning what I want to do. I am not a robot that stares at my Qualcomm minutes ticking away.

Well, I am no spring chicken in all of this game. Grew up around heavy trucks on the farm in the 60's, didn't start driving commercially till '82, and I am on Elogs and don't mind them a bit. Just like most folks, I was apprehensive about them and worried they would screw up my life. Hasn't been the case at all. Just a few minor adjustments to how I did things, and now I am quite comfortable with Elogs that I have no desire to go back to paper. Carry a log book around with me in case the Elog goes down, but sure hope it doesn't. I suppose it was easy for me to make the switch to Elogs because I never got into the multi log book game. I was always comfortable with using one logbook, and rarely tore out a page and changed things. Never felt the need to do that. I have made a decent living without having to resort to such things.

And really though, how do they actually change things? When you start your day, you have 14 hrs in which to drive 11 hrs. That is the same on paper or Elog. Some argue that it is wrong to make someone adjust their life to what some electronic device has to say. Well, it really doesn't apply here. The Elog is not forcing anyone to do anything different than a paper log would. If you start your day at say, 7 in the morning, your day is done at 9 at night whether you are on paper or Elog. The problem is not the box, its the HOS. The box is just following the HOS regulations. It is those regs that cause the problem, so put the blame where it needs to be. If we had the original HOS regs we had for 70 years, the Elog thing would not be that big of a deal. We could split everything, take a nap without messing things up, etc.

SoCal u r an idiot if u think I play Xbox all day. I don't even own one. Put that in your pipe genius and smoke it. I did tell you to plan better, so what??? Get over it. If u don't like elogs that is okay. I like them. They work for me. If they don't work for u that is your issue. If you are 20 mins out from home and have no hours that is on you as well. As for me. I always plan myself enough time to get home.

Actually 6 mos. Had a darn good trainer. Plus grew up in the business. Drive 500 miles a day. Get within 30 miles to customer if no overnight parking. Drive 9 hours a day work 1 hour a day and always pick up the same amount of hours. Now always exact science depending on load but has worked thus far.
