I would ask your company. They know you and your work ethic. I would expect any company will want 20% minimum. If you use their trailers expect 25-30%. There are other things to think about also like what type of truck and trailer. I would get a high roof KW T680 and a high wall Clemet MonStar. While your empty weight will be close to 39K. You can get more high $ loads like aluminum and stainless. And, the high roof t680 will considerably improve MPG over a flat or mid roof.

Also insurance is sky freaking high on dumps. Allow $15-$20k per year depending on your driving record and experience, and some of the better insurance companies won't write new policies till after the first of the year.

I would not just use your lease company. Look into some brokers and your own findings. If you start getting out of your area. You will need the back hauls or you will sink the ship.

Definitely talk to your current boss. He may be interested, and he can certainly give you some real good advice, cost estimates, etc.

I also say talk to your owner, he may be willing to work something out if he wanted to keep you. Otherwise, all the big guys broker out loads, you just have to pick up the phone. I'm leaded to Page and I've hauled US loads and numerous brother loads. One way to get the knowledge would be to sign on the someone line page and run 6-12 months. You'll start to learn the brokers and talk to other guys, there's a wealth of knowledge out here, you just have to ask the right guys.

Keep in mind, I watch bulkloads loadboards and I've very rarely seen anything posted that was worth a poop. But every now and then one shows up.

I appreciate the help guys. When you lease onto a company, what all is included, and what is the lease operator usually expected to pay/do? I will take your advice amd talk to the place I work at now, when I'm ready. Thanks again guys

I can't speak to the other companies, but Page pays 80% of the linehaul and 100% fsc if there is any. If you have your own dump, all you pay for is occupational & accident ins and fuel taxes. (You also have bobtail & collision, plates etc, but I have those outside of the company) If you don't have a dump, they rent them for roughly $1200 month, includes maintenance.

Bones pays 89% also 100% of the fsc but the fsc isn’t paid till they receive it. 90% of my loads have a fsc so about every three months I get a nice check. I also carry my own plates but the insurance and fuel tax is the same as page. Rates may differ though in insurance. Also that 89% is with your own trailer don’t think bones has a trailer to rent

So, even if I own my own trailer, they only pay 80 percent?

That 89% sounds more along the lines I was expecting if I own my trailer. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Correct. But you don't pay cargo ins either. Page also hauls dirty dirt which pays considerably better then general dump work. If you have no desire to run dirty dirt, then bones may be a better fit.

That’s correct I pay liability and cargo for a grand total of 456 a month. Now I will say I’m definitely thinking of switching to page or us bulk because they haul the dirty dirt. However only if they can keep me on it enough to make up for the difference when not pulling dirty. If that makes sense.
