If you put the phone down when you drive you can see the "emergency" develop before it happens.

If he's really working, not just trolling, he's at some sketchy 1099 outfit and their safety guy doesn't speak English anyway.

According to some I’m allowed to be critical of foreigners since I’m a foreigner.;)

Like already mentioned, that study is lying. Sure the raw total went up, but adjusted for per 100 million miles traveled the RATE went down. It's so sad people prefer to kill others to make a dollar more than to look at the actual data.

Wait a minute … training decades ago?

    what training?

when I started to drive, I had to have to take a test with 10 questions, pay my $6 and I could drive a truck.

Didn’t need 120 hours of training, didn’t need to take five tests or two part road test, just get 7 questions right like “What do you do when you come up to a stop sign?” with two choices and I is a trucker.

The job was just as dangerous than as now, but now the trucks drive like Lincoln and Cadillacs, so no longer people are being beaten half the death in a box that is 90 degrees with two fans blowing air on you in the middle of winter, but rather they are so distracted by their phone because they don’t have to keep two hands on the wheel because of a lack of power steering and eating so much crap they are so fat that their risk of a coronary is greater than sitting on the couch playing video games.

You either have common sense or you don't.. I don't think you can teach it to someone
There proof of that on here everyday
