What if "deserve the ticket they get" didn't happen? I was white-lining across Iowa 80 at 3 in the morning doing 'bout 75 (was 55 back then) and, upon seeing the scale operator get up, pulled it off on the side and waited for him to catch up. Logs (paper), of course, were also all screwed up so after escorting me back and shaking his head . . .
Made me promise to SHUT IT DOWN at the next truck-stop 'bout 12 miles down the road!
That was late 70's Oh How Times Have Changed!

I pass them many times intentionally because of long line. It can ruin 10-20 minutes just for scale at some busy chicken house. If they decided to inspect that will cost you another hour. But I do not recommend to anybody because it is too risky if you dont know that house well.

Actually having it green for closed, red open makes more sense. Green=go, red=stop

I could be wrong but I think they get a verification signal in the office when the system bypasses a truck. I do feel like a fool when I'm going in and I see a line of trucks passing me. ("Did they JUST close? Awww man!")

We had a guy work for us (not anymore) who "had a really good day" at a level one (high score!) and all of the sudden I was getting red lighted all over the place. Even though my truck at the time got one of those CSVA "good boy" stickers. (Is that the acronym?) they'd bring me to a full stop on the scale, see the sticker and wave me through.

Gee how much trouble would you get in for counterfeiting one of those?

It's not currency, it's not a federally recognized ID, it's just a sticker that may/may not get you waved through.

If the fine for making up a fake is less than $500 I'm not 100% sure it's not worth the risk.
