He's like that loudmouth on the CB you keep a conversation with going in order to not fall asleep while driving.....
Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
Just remember this bit of trucking wisdom I first heard some 40 years ago:
"Two wrongs don't make a right, but 3 rights make a left....."Numb and expedite_it Thank this. -
So what.. Let them wait behind you until the coast is clear and safe. In a few seconds or minutes you'll be on your way and that's not really an inconvenience to anyone. What would be inconvenient is a fatality accident that shut the road down. Never let some imaginary "inconveniencing" of someone else cause you to do something unsafe.Bud A., Crude Truckin' and kylefitzy Thank this.

nope, no excuse. If you stopped traffic and someone gets into an accident because of it, you should be held liable for causing the accident.
Case in Point - this happened to another fleet owner. The driver did exactly what you did, pulled out into an uncontrolled intersection and blocked traffic waited until the traffic cleared to make a left. The problem is four cars deep were stopped and someone in a van wasn't paying attention to the stopped traffic and hit a SUV at 60 mph. Killed three people, two in the van and one in the SUV. The driver of the truck just drove on but the cops caught up to her. This ended up in court, the driver was charged with more than blocking traffic, the fleet owner was sued, so was the driver and they both lost.Bud A., Sons Hero and expedite_it Thank this. -
That’s a manuever I’ll go out of my way to avoid.Bud A., PaulMinternational and Sons Hero Thank this.

Have you ever done it?
-
Morally, the wreck was the fault of the driver of the van, not the truck driver.
-
Never, at least not to the point of stopping on one side to then wait for traffic on the other side to stop.
I’ll come out at an intersection with a traffic light if at all possible.Bud A., North Pole Nightmare, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this. -
Perhaps, but the hypothetical truck driver illegally impeded the flow of traffic. Had that not happened, neither would the hypothetical accident.Bud A., Crude Truckin' and expedite_it Thank this.
