I would recommend a height stick. Say you have a piece of equipment on the deck. The exhaust stack is in the middle of the trailer. You gonna eyeball that with a tape, or use a height stick and know for sure?

Chances are you'll rip the air lines off at least once. Tools like those and repair fittings for hoses. Spare filters and spark plug for the pony motor. Coveralls or Carharts. Spray can of lube like Fluid Film for binders.

I don't carry one but I don't do over height anything, so I just need to get up there every now and again and make sure the shipper didn't get a little too high. In spite of that I I've been considering one. If I made a habit of running real tall loads or loads that got close, and they weren't always nice square ready easy to measure loads I would certainly have a load stick. One can make do with a tape for a couple paychecks if needed but I would make it a priority if you run anything tall.

I dont have the picture of the 'stick' that i use anymore but its just some steel round stock. About 6ft worth. Has an L bend at one end and i bent the other end into a triangle and welded it for a handle. Comes in handy when you need to feed straps or chains around certain parts of the load. If you go that route make sure the round stock thick enough. Mine is a bit flimsy but it works

I took another look at the equipment I'm getting and a load height stick is thrown in there

All in the list now. But are you talking about patting like blankets to protect tarps or like knee pads for when you have to crawl around on #### ?

Done and done, but have to say that's the first time I've heard jumper cables. I keep a pair in case someone else or I need a jump, but I didn't think to need them for hauling equipment. Good looking out, thanks driver.

I carry 10"x10" pieces of flat rubber, old 4" straps cut to about a foot long, moving blankets, as well as cardboard edge protectors. I also have those orange corners that go on the corners of loads (not the edge, the corner). As well as old straps sewn together with velcro on one side. Oh and fire hose. And duct tape and roofing nails.
All either as protection for straps, tarps or paint depending on what I'm hauling. Corners and sharp bits don't get along with tarps.
