there are a few of us on here who are new drivers. And there another guy from on here who works at the Chicago terminal. I was the bottom man at my terminal for a month and was running on break everyday pretty much. I was on a layoff from my old terminal, only on layoff because two dock guys became drivers bumping a few of us. In Chicago you will be doing teams or solo as you will be on the extra board. You got 7 years experience you will be fine, over a year ago I had 8 months and was hired as a city driver, but at my new terminal Im a road driver. I believe Chicago gained worked so you should keep busy
Left Chicago today heading to northern Cali. Making the big buck$$$ today on a holiday. Still on the same crappy bid after we rebid last week. Told my partner last week I'm gonna bid on something else when we bid again in October. Found another guy who wants to run with me so we will give it a go. 309 was seriously backed up with lots of freight today when we left.
Chicago Heights IL is running very strong and will be a very good work opportunity for you if your willing to work. Beware though. We do run both teams and solos from that terminal. If you are a good driver and find someone to team up with you will make more money than you know what to do with at that terminal. I work outta that terminal so let me know if you have anymore questions. Make sure you have both your doubles and hazmat endorsement before applying. They will not even talk to you without those two things.
dont blame you for wanting to switch bids, I would get bored doing the same run every week/day. Thats why I like my bid, I still get to go all over. dont forget tank now as well. They asked me the other day if I had mine well finally got a run. Doing a rail yard first, should be a quicky if theres no problems. Wouldnt mind not having to do a 2nd half tonight either lol. Also last time I sign up to work a holiday!!!!
Thanks for responding. When you said the hiring process takes a few weeks, did they tell you you were hired on the spot and set you with a star date? or did they said they were gonna call you? 3 weeks is a long time for me to wait for a response and not knowing if I will get hire or not, if so, I might sell somethings to get by.
Hey, is YRC giving you back the 15% pay they got from Hoffa? Will they be paying you it all back? Also will YRC be putting back in the pension fund all that money they did not contribute? Somehow I think not. Further I tend to believe that Hoffa is getting a kick back at your expense. Just my thoughts.
They gave me a road test that day. Then they said they will call me. I guess it was after the background check about 2 weeks later they called me to come and fill out my W-2 and a drug test. Then the next week on Monday they called me to start Wednesday. Most jobs take time to tell you your hired
