Almost done for the week!! My wife and kids are coming down to Chicago this weekend. Hope you guys are all doing well

Prime Rib @ the Middlesex.
-
Never got a chance to eat there but maybe this coming weekend as I'm going to the truck show in Carlisle. It's not prime rib but I got some nice rib eyes marinating tonight.
Been on days lately, not too happy about it but at the same time I get a longer weekend as my bid starts every Sunday at 7am and run off break to finished. -
Yeah. I've been on days lately too. I definitely prefer driving @ night. so much easier. Anyway, waiting on the shuttle bus to take me back.
Bid? lol! Takes 20 years to get a bid here. -
I was on days all week last week! People going on vacation and still under staffed for drivers, dock workers and even office personnel. Still hiring at Reddaway. Anyway, I hope I can go back to nights tonight. I fear I will remain on days for a couple of weeks. Of course I get the crap runs. Sorry to hear you guys are on days too.

I know a few people who work for YRC in Grand Rapids, and they have been so busy since they closed the Coldwater terminal. I heard they cant find drivers to hire. I have been seeing a company called same day delivery hauling roadway and yellow trailers, and I asked about it, and they said they are sub contracting loads out to other companies because they cant keep up.

@squonk Im on what we have a subsequent turn bid, I do two short trips, ranging from 63-162 miles per terminal. My bid is a 7am start time on sundays and runs like the extra borad but get called in before others on those runs. EVERYONE at my terminal wants the night runs. When we do go out on rest normally they ALWAYS send us to Long Island or NYC... and then they find it funny to send you to the rail yard in Jersey and depending on where you are you sit in traffic for HOURS. But they save all the good stuff for "the favorites" for later... If it werent for the gf and being able to make plans ahead of time I wouldve been back on the extra board months ago
@Cool35 I hear you there, today coming back from the rail yard on i87 the NYS thruway it was backed up for over 30 miles. I was like YIKES glad I missed that. Traffic wasnt too bad today, even made it over the Cross Bronx in less then 30 min and thats normally unheard of, typical time is 1.5-3 hours.
@Crazycool some of our terminals are like that here, they closed down one which was stupid idea and the 4 that gained the work have been running around like crazy. One Guy I spoke to told me its a 150 miles to just start his route for the day. When I was in Mount Vernon, we had a cartage company that took care of any extra work we couldnt handle, did so for Brooklyn as well. They werent allowed to send them freight unless EVERY one was working at both terminals.
I gotta tell you, the rail yard has been crazy packed with our trailers past few weeks, today I mustve seen about 30 of them. When I was heading out after work I heard the dispatchers trying to figure out how to get them all. I do miss working nights, shorter work time, better runs, no traffic -
Half day, 8 hour guarantee though, love these days!
