Well its a deal with my dad. For his birthday we go out for steaks to the best steak house ever by us. For my birthday we do a smoke out. He buys brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, salmon... no turkey this year though. Im in charge of the meats and he does the sides(HE doesnt know how to use it so I have to watch it) Sides are home-made mac and cheese, veggies and stuffing. Got a bunch of friends coming over and he has some of his @cool35 if you buy one start with an electrical. IT works just as good. Propane is tricky as the smallest wind can blow out the fire and the gas gets into the food and ruins it... OR go charcoal and really watch it. I do enjoy my electrical one. time for to go for some two wheel action!! Over 50 degrees, first ride
started to rain... urgggggg could do any two wheeling. Been cooking/smoking all day, while drinking(yes i changed my mind) Well to get back on subject I really hope I get my tractor back on monday. I had a stupid straight truck all week, I even broken the blinker lever in it. Not on purpose though
They can put me in a POS Sterling everyday, I don't care, I just wanna get back to work. lol Unemployment sucks because you can't do alot because you have to conserve/budget your money. Oh well, I shouldn't complain, I should be grateful I can do what I'm doing. I wonder if any of the 13 guys ahead of me, who got laid off, can't hack it and quit? lol 'Welcome to the jungle'.
no our straight truks are ghetto, I mean REALLY ghetto, if a tractor driver screws up they put him in one of those for the day to punish him... Sterlings I really dont mind, although the Volvo is a much nicer riding machine. I liked my old international I had, rode rough but man that was a POWER HORSE
Getting on unemployment occassionally seems like one of the things that makes truck driving seem like a semi-civilized job. After working 70 hour weeks, the slow times seem like a great time to catch up on doing the things that "normal" people do. Join a healthclub. Read some good books. Take an MMA class. Learn how to sing. Learn how to shoot. Search for good audio books and cds to take on the road with you. Dump your bad habits and learn some good ones. If you're strapped, you can do most of those things on the cheap. Lots of old guys take classes for things like Hapkido (learn how to break people's wrists and arms like cops do it). It's like the movie, "Ground Hog Day" with Bill Murray. Use the time to transform yourself into mr. awesome and then get the girl, wow your wife, gain your son's admiration and impress your friends. There's a lot more to life than work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE8nNUASSCo
I agree, we shouls bring back the late start times for work that do all the late night deliveries and pickups. The home depots are all at night and bigelow teais at night too. But no one wants to go in late because they lose their overtime
Hey guys, guess where I am? St. Paul, MN! WOOOHOOO! First call I got in 5 weeks. Things got a little hairy starting 60 miles outside St. Paul:
