I ran through a portable coming into Colorado on my birthday last September,-I thought they were construction workers..,Almost 200 miles later a State Troop guy pulled me over, took my license, and told me to go to the scale in Limon,Co(3 mi away)where I promptly got a ticket for $165....Playing DUMB did not work for me....Happy birthday Bumpy..........:biggrin_25521:

I have deliberatly blown scales with success. TN has the bypass when ramp is full rule. Like Knoxville, I'll slow up and deliberately let a bunch of trucks pass me. Then, it'll be full when I get there. Works most of the time.

Like NC with the short ramps. When it gets full, they are about to flip the switch. I'm not scrambling to the shoulder like many do. I go on and never got stopped.

There are times you can use no prepass to your advantage. Like if the scales are busy and many green lights are going on. I'll mingle on with them. I wouldn't push your luck doing that, but it has worked several times in the past. One, the scalemasters view is blocked and as long as a red light isn't blowing the scale, the no flashing monitor doesn't catch his attention.

The times they chase you down is when they aren't that busy and have the manpower. And you make it obvious.

I used to expedite and as long as its a van and under 10K lb (mine was a Ford E250) you don't have to log or scale. I didn't know this had changed?

I just went thru MT and there were 3 POE within 50 or 60 miles...I had to walk in with my registration and IFTA at all 3, THAT is ridiculous...Once you go in one, they should log your truck number so when you get to the 2nd, as long as weight is ok, you roll out...

One said I wasn't good to drive in MT, then after 30 seconds realized it was a MT registration! LOL

I ran through WY on I90 last year - all of 209 miles. There are three coops. Each one was open, the PrePass system gave me reds on all three, and my paperwork - CDL, IFTA, cab card and insurance was checked at all three. Nothing else was asked for or inspected.

    That is just plain harassment.

Failure to obey a traffic control device. I got one in WB Spokane. I went to court. Be advised that WA cops are not required to appear! I lucked out and the DA dropped. The judge was pissed! The traffic court in W. Spokane was in a mini mall and his robe looked like they needed money. Always appear if you can. You never know. That coop, by the way, is the first offramp, through the used to be rest area. I wasn't the first to miss it.

it is the stateline idaho exit well atleast for now they are in the process of building a supercoop just past it....

and if you miss the exit park right infront of it there is a dirt pull off and walk in and talk to them they will most of the time check you and let you go... or make you go to the next exit and come back either way beats a ticket
