These might come in handy (depending how quickly their removal process take up) for those O/O that wants to run up to Canada from time to time.![]()

I have a fastertruck device pro and have been using it for several years on many different engines, cummins, cat and detroit. It's always worked perfectly and without any problem.
About the mileage, I hear people spewing bull crap here, The fact is that the driver has 100% control over all speedometer/odometer data that enters the ECM (engine control Module). It is true that you have to keep the device set below the governed speed to get higher rpm in top gear but what they don't know is, is that you can makeup any lost miles by allowing the device to continue to run when your parked. You can rack up miles whenever your stopped, like loading/unloading, fueling, laundry or restaurant time. With a little experience it's really easy to match actual mileage readings. Hope that clears it up.
One thing though, don't switch off the device or unplug it unless your speedo matches your actual ground speed. If your adding on miles when your stopped and want to turn off the device just turn off the ignition rather than using the switch on the unit. If you don't follow this procedure than a "hard braking event" could be recorded in your truck's computer and simultaneously broadcast to the home office via qual-comm. Other than that the device is perfect and I would highly recommend it to any drivers that are truly concerned about safety 'cause it makes it easy to pass other big-rigs with similar speed governor settings.
Admin edit: Based on other interactions with Panther1, I strongly believe Panther1 is an employee or owner of FasterTruck. Please consider whether you want to purchase a product from a company that allegedly engages in this sort of deception.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 23, 2010

And how does this interact with the computer on average road speed vs driving economy vs total engine usage.
And on a truck with a 2 wire VSS (vehicle speed sensor) the data path is from the VSS to the ECU and then to the truck speedo. Will this device fool the odometer in the ECU as well as the speedo ECU?
If you have a Qualcomm or a peoplenet it tracks Ignition switch events and reports those everytime everyday. So if the ISO log (Ignition switch on) shows you have a high key on time but low idle time then something is going on.
Last year we had a lease purchase driver complaining about fuel economy. They pulled the ISO log and asked why he never shut the truck off. In 8 weeks he turned the key off 6 (yeah 6 not a typo) times.
PS the shop I work in does full computer dumps a lot more often than drivers know about. Just for those reasons and questions I asked.Powell-Peralta Thanks this. -
To confuse the issue further and to go off on a tangent (i do this ALL THE TIME) (Also note that i would not do this myself but.....) i know that there is a way to drive up on a "block thing"----they use this to change outer tires without having to jack the whole truck up, in such a way that one side of one axle and the other side of another axle are free spinning.
In this way, miles can be racked up on the odometer while you are "parked." So, this would be one way to equalize the mileage that was lost if you used the faster truck device.
1) Is this harmful to the differential(s)? i'm thinking that it is.
2) How does the qualcomn "read" this?

Qualcomm- depends on the system. One the 3 wire system (3 wires hooked to the truck) it reads battery power, Ignition power and ground. So that system will read that the ignition is on but nothing more.
The omnitracs is another story and will depend on what options the company has paid for. But the basic hookup will read the datalink, Ignition switch and GPS. The datalink will tell the SAT that the key is on and whether or not the truck is running and whether or not the BRAKES are released. *News flash here* If someone thinks to look or ask how is this truck is making miles with the brakes locked your goose is cooked. Yeah the system does record that little event when you release the brakes. How long it holds it depends on the option package.
More news flash for you, on a DDEC 2,3,4 (MBE 4000 as well) I can look at your driving history by the DAY down to the quarter of an hour. I can see on the histogram if the truck was idling, moving or shutoff. That goes back 45 or 90 days I don't remember. And yes you can do that with an ISX as well. I don't work on cats much so I can't say for certain on them but I wouldn't bet against it. In other words their device may not set up a log in the ECM, but the ECM already did it.
It may not set off an overspeed incident but the log will record that your average rpm was higher than they expect to see. The histogram will show your rpm use in blocks like 12~13 and 13~14 and 14~15 and so forth. So if I look at your rpm charts for the last 30 days and expect to see lots of 1350 for 62mph and see lots of 1550 rpm and your average road speed is 39 mph I circle that on the printout. (If I don't then my boss wants to know why I didn't see that) At that point someones day gets ugly and then it gets worse...Powell-Peralta Thanks this. -
What i meant was that one side duals of the front axle are resting on the "block thing" and the rearmost axle on the opposite side are resting on another "block thing." In this way, and if you lower the air on the suspension, (another thing that isn't good for the driveline) both opposite wheels can free spin. (yes, i've done some "experimenting."
)
But this, almost assuredly, is not good for the diffs, so the question is again moot.
