Bored...yes, sometimes (34 hour restarts)
Fun...most of the time, but not always.

Daniellilly, one thing I am confident of. If you engage a truck driver in conversation it is not his/her schedule you have to be concern of. It is yours. Truck drivers worth their salt are notorious BS'ers. For that matter, it is not uncommon for people to ask to take a picture of a shiny truck. Less common to request a pic of ugly old truck driver, but it happens. Periodically, tour buses will stop at truck stops and unload a group of folks who immediately tour the parking lot admiring (and photographing) the trucks.

Sometimes when i wake up in the morning it takes about 100 miles or so f.or my head to clear when im feeling a little down. Some days i hate trucking, other days i love it. I do get bored out there, but i just get in a zone and keep going. I try to make it a challenge . If i have time i will pull over, and check my tires or wash the windshield just to break up the trip a bit. Before trucking, i had jobs where i worked with my hands, so just sitting all day holding on to the steering wheel gets to me sometimes.

I'm usually planning ahead. Either the trip I'm on or the next one or financially or some other reason. I don't usually have a lot of emotions about what I'm doing, I'm just doing it. I certainly enjoy my days off when they come along. But, I've been doing this kind of work for over 20 years. I suppose the novelty of seeing the country has worn off, along with being homesick. I guess I feel most at home on the road working on a plan.
I think there are too many drivers these days that let their emotions get the best of them. It seems like it would make the job a lot harder than what it is. In the old days drivers were hand picked and were usually the type that belonged in a truck. These days drivers are herded through driving school whether they belong on the road or not. I don't like going to truck stops any more. Too many high emotions looking for a place to blow up.
