Guys carry gasoline for their generators all the time. And many drivers carry a gallon of diesel with anti-gel additives in it in case of plugged filters in the winter. So you can carry the def in a suitable container. But it's winter and if you keep it outside, it won't do you any good if it is a frozen block of ice.

Why? They sell DEF in 2 1/2 gal containers in the truck stop.
BlueDEF 2.5-Gallon Jug (Volume Discount Available)
Use it once and then refill it. However....
I was told the nozzles on the DEF dispensers have a magnet and the blue plastic piece on your def tank filler spout has a piece of metal (or is it the other way around) so that you cannot refill the portable plastic containers from the def pump because there needs to be magnet/metal action to unlock the pump nozzle.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

You can buy nozzle activators; just Google "DEF nozzle magnet"

I ran a T800 for a while. I usually just drove in the wrong way. Sometimes I used the pump in the next lane.

Just get a jug of DEF and keep it in the box it comes in and keep it in your side box so it doesn’t freeze. If you end up needing it you can fill it up at the pump or at a TSI yard that has a DEF pump. Had one in my JJW truck for 3 years before it ended up starting to leak.

This is what I'm doing now. It's a simple, inexpensive solution.

Drive through the island so that the backside of your sleeper is just past the DEF pump. The pump has a long hose that is coiled inside the housing that you can't see. It is long enough to reach behind your sleeper and dispense to the passenger side tank.

I’d just go in backwards. Who cares who you piss off?

they aren’t the fuel island gate keepers.

either that or pull up. Drop trailer quick and spin around to fill def.
