With a recent felony and being on parole/probation, and with the felony being one of the no no's, I doubt you're going to find gainful employment in this industry. Your best bet is to buy a truck and get your own authority if you want to continue.

I was in the same situation. Getting my felony expunged is the best thing I ever did. You have to wait 5 years or so, depending on the state...But when you can do it (if you can do it) get it expunged.

ok, you've got a couple of strikes against you, and this coming from someone with a felony background as well.

    1. Your felony is too new, OTR companies won't touch you til it's at least 5 to 7 yrs old and your off probation.

    2. Your now listed as a sexual predator, that makes you even tougher and a lot of companies will run from that. You need to go and have a long talk with your lawyer. If he was an idiot, find a different lawyer and explain the situation and see what can be done to reopen the case and start over.

    3. As for Mom/Pop companies, since your in Longmont, there are a couple of gravel haulers in that area, but, no offense, but your going to be working for a bottom feeder and they will work your butt off and you'll drive crappy equipment. Since you don't have your CDL yet, your going to be in even worse position. Your best bet might be a construction company. I would have suggested household, but your not even a candidate for that now.

    Thanks guys for the advice.

Just to set the record straight striker- I am not listed as a sexual predator but a sex offender... HUGE difference. And I am currently working for a construction company doing framing etc.. I am just trying to find something more along the lines of what I was doing before. Thanks for your input as well though

Wait until you are able to leave the state. Stick with the job you have and try to put some money aside. That way when you are done with probation you can pay for your own schooling if you need it. Then try to find a O/O with a small fleet that will be willing to take you on. I've hired a few guys that have been in your shoes. It just takes time to get everything back on track. Good luck to you.

... and if I do go the route of getting a truck etc.. How do I find loads? (And they have to be local for now). I asked that in an earlier post but it kinda got put on the wayside with "dont buy a truck".

Again, this is just all information gathering. I don't want to have a truck and not be able to use it. Will someone please deccribe how that works??? Would there be any issues with my current situaution?

    Thanks yet again!

You have a service to sell... reliable transportation of goods. That means you need to find someone who requires your services. I'd beat the bushes for a long term contract with a local shipper, or deal with a reliable broker. IMO, load boards are for filling the empty spaces, not to be relied upon for your primary income.

Ok thank you! I will take all this into consideration. I would rather drive for someone (at least that sounds like the best advice) so if you know of anyone in Colorado looking for a driver, let me know Please!!!!

    Thanks!

Update: I got my DOT physical a while ago, obtained my permit today (general knowledge/airbrakes/combination). I will add other endorsements later, but now I need to find a 'mom and pop" company or someone who will hire me before I complete the CDL process.

Do any of you have any ideas or know of such a company in Colorado that will keep me local (untill I CAN be OTR- in September probably?).

I also got a copy of my driving record today when I was there and have a "10 mph over" speeding ticket in 2/2010 but other wise completely clear! That should be ok huh?

    Thanks!
