Now that I have my permit, what about getting the CDL on my own and trying to get on with a local gravel/landscaping company? (I'm sure they wouldn't pay for the CDL?) but that would get me some experience and cover time untill I coul be OTR or O/O. Good idea or not???

 

Just my two cents but, yes! Get it! You never know what or who the future holds for you, and it would suck to have an opportunity present itself and not be able to act on it.
I know a guy with a very similar situation and it can be dealt with, just takes time and determination.

Hoggz, think I would pass on the driving gig for a while!! Do you know construction?? It is the 2nd hottest thing going in ND and should be for a long while over there!! I figure there will still be plenty of it left by the time you are allowed to leave Colorado. Just saying....
