Would there be anything stopping me from finding my own loads using my company's truck and trailer. I work at construction based job and it slows down during the winter but I'd like to keep working steady so if I found my own loads that would keep me busy. If there's no logistical issues how would you pitch this to your employer and how would I get paid. Can I offer to pay for the fuel and a percentage of maintenance?
Your company. They’d probably let you do it, as a company truck. They’re not going to pay you an o/o wages to use their truck and trailer and authority, if something were to happen it’s still on them
If it is construction its probably the wrong insurance. It is probably private. You can't just take a truck from a private fleet to "for hire" without changing a lot of stuff.
So if you are going to find your own loads, your company is gonna let you negotiate rates, terms etc?? What happens when you gotta start cancelling reloads due to current shipment issues and then that reflects directly on your company?? No way in hell can I see them being OK with this...
