There's something wrong with this picture. A trainer doesn't rat you out and then turn around and say you're a good driver and you shouldn't be fired.

He should of just scolded you if that was the case. They were probably playing games behind the scenes. They are good at that!

There's an art to UTurns! First is, anyone looking? :biggrin_2559:

sooo what do you do if it is a legal u-turn like those roads where you have the uturn lane?--only way to get to other side

In that case it is a "Button Hook", not a U-Turn!:biggrin_25523:

When is a U-turn absolutely necessary?

Isn't is always possible to turn right at the next main street and come around to a left turn?

Or, is that just too much trouble and time consuming?!

M13 Ever come up to a road block or the road is shut down and you have to do a U-Turn? And no, there is not always a right turn available. And many times the right turn that is available is one that an 18 wheel is not able to navigate.
Now if you are driving a Prius, then sure, tons of options. But if you are in that big truck, options are limited. Sometimes the U-Turn is a lot safer than taking a chance on going down some neighborhood street.
Remember, the times that most drivers make a decision to do a "U" is when they are someplace they have never been before and have no clue about the surrounding area.

    Seriously???

What's the big deal with U-turns? Am I missing something? As said before, there are places that cannot be reached unless a U-turn is executed because of traffic islands and dead ends. And what does Werner have to say about those docking situations wherein you enter the yard to find yourself looking directly at the dock? Um...wouldn't that require a U-turn?

Seems to me there's a Safety department overreacting to a few people who can't understand the difference between a tractor with a 53' trailer and a Volkswagen Bug.

    GBNF, fair enough.

I find it funny that the OP has only made the one post.
And the account that was given would not indicate a U-turn, but a double left:
I was parked on the right side of the road and then I thought I take left going back to take the exit to the Interstate
