It wont be a new truck so I wouldnt be expecting anything other than an existing power train warranty.

I personally would not expect 8+ MPG. Not pulling a step. Right now my Columbia with C15 averages anywhere from low 5's to low 6's depending on load and terrain. I'd be ecstatic to have a truck that does 7+. The fuel savings alone would more than cover my payments with 50% down on a $80k - $90k truck. Thats what I'll be looking for next spring if my finances hold through the winter.

Good info friend. I like hearing from people actually driving them.

LOL I know the feeling. I went from a company with trucks govrned at 69. To a newish Pete with 475 C15 that was really running well and ungoverned. I was so used to mashing the pedal till I hit the limiter and suddenly I'm pushing 75 mph and the truck is still pulling. I got off it it and set cruise at 70. The owner offered me a fuel bonus each week if I could keep it above 6 mpg. Not impossible,.. but not that easy either. Finally had a truck that would rock n roll and I had to keep my foot out of it. I found depending on load that 65 - 67 was the sweet spot at 1400 RPM. Anything over that and MPG fell off drastically.

Ok, and if all things are equaled, it's not going to bring a premium, correct? NADA statistics show exactly what you stated, they are equal in price which means no premium. Like I said he will never recoup money spent having a 18spd over a 13spd on resale, over a 10 spd or auto without a doubt, but not over a 13spd.

I merely asked a simple question. Its not back pedalling to admit the 18 is more desirable/valuable to sell.

TMC 579's are all Cummins with 9 speeds. They have an upgrade kit for them once they get out of warranty

I read somewhere that 9 spd is basically a 13 with out the ability to split the hi or low side. I guess its stuck in the hi side? I despise the 10spd in my truck,.. I cant imagine I'd like a 9 spd any better.

lol, Why would I back peddle, you proved NADA correct. He's not going to sell a 18spd for more then a 13spd & he will never split the bottom half out of necessity pulling 80k loads if the rest of the truck is spec'd correctly. I've had both with similar gears, 3.36 LP24.5 & 3:42 11r22.5, & drove them both the same, so as a average Joe knowing what I know, I would not spend more money now for a 18spd. It's fact that a 18spd will bring no more money to him on resale, which is what I stated to him, you don't have to like, but you certainly can't prove it wrong.

My C15 is also giving me 6.1 mpg. (DPF included)
Workhorse and a mule going up and holding back down the hill loaded. I get down faster than most. I'm trading within the next 2 weeks. I'm going with a snout.

Well, I forgot to mention the DEF use on the Cummins is WAY more than the Detroit (almost twice as much).....but the Cummins pulls MUCH better, is WAY smoother ....also, having the unmodified (by company programming) Ultrashift makes the tranny really come alive!!!!!(none of the dreaded rocking while backing) ......I was a little let down because the new company first gave me a 13 speed to ferry to the dealer where I picked up my truck, so I expected another 13 speed.....SURPRISE...it turned out to be an auto....after my time at Maverick I wanted to get back to a manual....now I would be hard pressed to make that trade......

How did I prove that? I only suggested a scenario. Hardly any facts based on that other what I stated my conversations with other O/O's were.

Your still wandering and trying to support your statements with out actual facts. Just because you stated it to be a fact?

I think you might want to talk with some used truck sales guys. Because what they have listed goes against what you claim to be 'facts'. Either they know something you dont, or your not up to date with your 'facts'.

In my hypothetical situation, you admitted average Joe is indeed more interested in the 18 spd than the 13. By this simple ideal, logic would dictate that Jonny sales guy could indeed get a premium for the 18 vs the 13. No facts,.. just simple logic.
