Nope. The booster is for the phone and doesn't have any effect on truckstop WiFi. The booster will help with weak phone/data signals.

You can set your phone up as a hotspot so you can connect tablets up to it wirelessly. But for a laptop, use a cable. Some cables will transmit data faster than others. Go with the fastest available for your phone model.

I have longer cords so I can charge from my top bunk. But when tethered to a laptop it is slow. I have a shorter thicker cable for tethering that meets my high-speed gaming needs.

T-mobile $70 flat (all inclusive, unlimited everything) very reliable, strong, no bs increases on your bills! Used to roll with verizon and att - they pull things with constant price hikes on your bill, not a fan - definitely give tmobile a look (still trying to merge w/Sprint)

 

My brother picked up a load in a remote location a couple of weeks ago. It didn't matter what carrier folks had, nobody could make a call. Then he saw a guy watching videos on his phone, sitting in his pickup truck. When my brother asked him what carrier he had, he simply pointed to his boost thingy.

 

My Verizon bill doesn't change much. The drivers that I roll with who have that tmobile deal seem to have issues with some of the places we drive through. Calls always dropping and such.

I have problems with a few areas in Idaho, Montana, Colorado, and Utah. Otherwise I always seem to stay connected.

In my experience the best carriers for travelers seem to be Verizon & ATT.

 

First check the fine print on that spartphone unlimited plan and make sure it applies to hotspot use. I have unlimited data on mine but am limited to only 5 GB of data a month on hotspot. Another thing, I sure hope that everybody while on a wifi are using a VPN. Using a wifi without a VPN is like inviting a lot lizard into your truck. And yes I would be willing to bet that at least one truck in that parking lot has equipment that will "listen in" to wifi. I seen a guy doing that at the library several months ago.

 

Read the instructions carefully if you’re shopping for a booster. Call them if it’s unclear.

I went shopping for one for my mom, who lives in a hole obviously. They carry different ratings. Some only do 3g. Not the best for video streaming.

 

I use tmobile unlimited. They Throttle you at 60 gigs but I have used upwards of 100 gigs with little issue. I hotspot to my laptop and smart TV. I spend around $ 90 a month, better speeds with newer phones helps as well.

 

They allow it on a phone. One of our drivers uses it for a hotspot, and a backup if his other phone takes a crap.
