gotta disagree with trip planning part. any load, has to have a plan & backup plan or 20. one constant in trucking imo is nothing set in stone. thats where commen sense comes in.

Pointing out the obvious- But many of these drivers aren't compensated near enough to thorougly have a few "Backup" plans- Too Much Thinking involved for 45k a year-

Winston Smith Pulls a Switch at Acme steel Plant 8 hours a day- and Makes 92k per year without overtime-

Get what Im Saying?? Its easy to "Say" What I Driver should have done...........If You wanna pay subpar wages- Well, I Dont Blame drivers for carelessness

Your rught Jethro- Unfortunastely in Trucking- ZERO reward for your efforts- A few Thank You's By a Customer or 2 and thats it. Nothing to look forward to......

The Best Part of Driving (Im at the later stage of my career) Is getting Back to The Yard and Workin' on it.

But Back to the OP here..........I Just think its Too Much added Stress on a Driver thast doesn't need to be there.......Anyway, I Will NOT be participating in E-Logs as I will Only work within 100 miles of my home,My Customers already Know this..........OTR Money Should go thru the roof.

The simple answer is dont leave that shipper without adequate time. Whether its split sleeper berth or a full 10 hour reset. Its easy for Super Truckers to say what should be done. This mentality is why I reason our industry is in this mess. We all know there is a problem with hours of service and parking. Its more evident where you drive mostly. I generally run the northeast, if you are not at a Truck Stop by 3/4pm, you can almost forget it. Its getting worse by the moment. Im on a specialized division so I dont get a chance to get by Truck Stops unless im fueling, being creative with parking is a skill and must be learned rather quickly.
To answer your question..... I would not have moved that truck unless i had hours or was able to creep out side of that parking area onto the street without violating hours if it were a safe place to park

I guess I must be underpaid. I never realized how "hard" my OTR job was. To listen to some, "I'm doing rocket science here" running all over hell and back and not going into HOS violation. I used to find most of the job and it's unique perks enjoyable, now I see I'm just a smart rat in a maze, giving away my apparent immense intellectual capacity to trip plan for free.

No... You are most likely doing something uncomplicated. Surely you are not running in New York City or anything of that nature. Im sure this is the 1st time you've ever heard of drivers having a hard time to find safe parking.... SuperTrucker... (I get it)
