It depends with the region, coastal area is always hot and the best is Nairobi hence the name which means

Only place I've been on the African Continent is Djibouti.
We fueled the ship there sometime. Lots of French Foreign Legionnaires where we were.
Lots of money being spent modernizing the ports for refueling military ships.
I don't know what it looks like today.
Chinese Navy has a base there now also.

Yes, I served in the Navy.
We also went to South Yemen, which is now just Yemen. Only 16 miles across that little strip of water, the Bab el-Mandeb strait which is the link between the Red Sea and Indian ocean. You probably already know that.

 

Exactly. The questions for every endorsement are available online. This website has them. I use TruckerCountry.com. Every endorsement other than hazmat just requires taking a multiple choice test at the DMV, paying the small fee. Hazmat requires that plus background check & fingerprints and about $150 in fees.
