It depends on who you work for. A lot of companies have specific policies against carrying guns or tasers.

The situation with school goes like this. The insurance companies run the trucking companies. With no school they will not hire you. However, there are alot of companies that are self-insured and can give you a shot. But with that situation you must have some type of "in" to get hired on( like your brother). What company does your brother work for or is he an O/O? He might be your ticket to OTR.

Yeah, all the insurances companies own everything, it seems. My brother works for JB Hunt. He seems to like it a lot better than Marten, who loved to send him places and let him sit for days on end. I have 2 companies (USA and Swift) talking to me now. I'm now hoping and praying that by the time all is said and done, I will be on my way to Springfield, Mo. or Memphis, TN.

So basically CC truck school is free? Why would anybody want to go to any other school then?

Well it isn't completely free. But yeah, you do get a big chunk of it back at tax season. At least for last year, that's how it was. I haven't checked up on 2010 tax credits yet.

Also, not all community college's meet the requirements certain trucking insurance companies are wanting. Most are ok tho.

Ok, here's a thing I used to carry when running Boston/NYC/NJ that might work for a lady and not get you in trouble with LEO's.

Get you a short piece of waterpipe that you can close your hand around in a fist; PVC or Copper works. Cut it so that both ends are just inside your closed fist. Fill it with lead shot or BB's and epoxy both ends closed solidly.

You can carry this weapon in your purse, pocket or anyplace you can grab it quickly. It's cheap and lightweight but turns your fist into a hammer without the legal probs. LEO's will look right at it and not see weapon.

LOL! Sure! I have given that a lot of thought but nursing is something I did only because I couldn't do this for soooo long. I understand that you can't be completely ecstatic about everything you do, including this.
I'm just a rebel, what can I say? lol Take care and thanks for the "good luck".

    thelastamericanhippy Thanks this.
