Hope this information helps someone out there. Got pulled into a Point of Entry and instructed to pull over and bring in CDL and permits. The registration for the truck is expired (was issued a temporary 45 day registration back in October 1, 2010). Mid November I sent 2 messages to my DM about it. Of course never got a response about it. So during one of our bi monthly phone chats it was among one of the topics asked her about. She said I can get IFTA stickers at any terminal, updated permits printed at any Kiosk etc. Cool. So the last time I was a terminal I turned in my accident report and camera, printed out all the permits from the kiosk and filed them in the permit book. My fault for not thinking to ask at the window when I picked up the T-call trailer about registration. But in my defense lol when I go to that window they act like doing their job is the worst burden in the world and if you ask for more than one thing at a time is just too much to ask (like asking for the t-call paperwork and trip scan sheets at the same time).

Anyway, OOS at the POE waiting for a fax at nearby truckstop that I will have to hike over to get in 7 degree weather. Called my terminal for them to fax it, but turns out the truck has not been registered at all since the 45 day temporary permit. So they are issuing me another temporary. This is very frustrating. Even though others didn't do their job by not registering the truck, I have to bear the CSA consequences. I guess I'm gonna have to hound my DM more about stuff that is important. I haven't heard a word about my accident, how they have ruled whether it is preventable or not, never was instructed to take any drug tests or anything. I feel the ball is being dropped bigtime..

Here is a schematic of my accident per the Iowa State Patrol, what do you guys think?

Hubby has learned to NEVER assume that others, such as dms, are doing their job. Maybe they get busy and forget, lose the paperwork or are just lazy, either way, it is your job to make sure they do their job where it concerns you. Drivers should get paid extra :yes2557:

    #### Scottied looks like the hung you out to dry. I would get ahold of safety if I were you and find out the status of that accident....and also find out why your truck never got permited....that's a load of horse hockey in my opinion...but like Cookie said WE have to stay on top of THEIR job so we don't pay the price ( not exactly his words but)

I'm sorry you got burned like that

You guys are right, POE is saying truck registration is my responsibility. If the company cannot pull a rabbit out of their hat, I will be cited today (waiting for another fax now that hopefully will save my bacon). The first fax was another 45 day temporary registration but it is dated from today. POE wants to see registration activity from the time the original 45 day expired to present. Just talked to another person at Permits who says I am good, don't know why the first person I spoke to 2 hours ago didn't know what this second person does. SO frustrating! Might be time for a new DM methinks.

Safety says they don't have my accident on their radar yet. WTF?

    ###### driver....that doesn't sound good as far as the registration thing. Now when was that accident...could be it's taking a while for it to get to them.......were you ticketed on the accident or did they only cite the 4 wheeler?

Part of your pre-trip and you should not drive a truck with proper licensing and permits. It is your fault.

Well, it occurs to me that the SUV lost control, smacked into your truck, and then went joy-riding into the median...right? That's what I got from your pics. However, since the truck wasn't properly registered, case could be made that you shouldn't have been there in the first place. Then you wouldn't have been in that poor, poor 4wheeler's way as he careened down the road. In reality, I don't see how your at fault. Legally, it's a whole different story. Hope the idiot 4-wheeler or his insurance don't decide to sue you or the company...

A DM has one thing on their mind. Run, run, run. It's a good idea for all drivers to review their permit books. There are many things in there that expire at different times. A good licensing and permit person has software to help keep up with each truck. I would talk with them directly instead of going through the DM. The same with safety and repair issues. Talk to the corresponding dept. DM's have too much on their mind to deal with other stuff.

brsims is right, clearly the SUV's fault, but your truck shouldn't of been in that spot at that time. The same goes with a driver that runs off the road and hits an 18 wheeler on the shoulder. 4 wheelers fault, but the 18 wheeler shouldn't of been in that spot. Lawyers love that stuff.
