So we get the CLP in our home state, then go through the school and 15,000 training miles (with Millis) over the next couple months, then we test for the CDL.. where do we test, is it based on the state where the CLP was issued or is it our current address at the time? Because by then I'll technically be living nowhere, I'm giving up my apartment right before going into the school, and will most likely be using my parents address outside of Pittsburgh for a "home" address, just for mail and to store a few things. Even if I do CDL test in Ohio I'll need to transfer it to PA within 30 days?

The pittsburgh address is fine. The alternative is to get a PO box in Pennsylvania. Then when you have decided to settle some where you can forward the mail. Otherwise the post office will hold your mail up to 6 months.

    RS730 Thanks this.

You will be licensed in your state of residence. Your license will have your parents Pittsburgh address where you state as your place of residence . That will be the address you give to Millis correct.

    Pittsburgh PA.

I used my own home for a long time as Class A then CDL until I emigrated to Arkansas. Transfer to the new home took 10 minutes.

As long as you’re doing this.
Set up an address in a state with no income tax.

I've seen people doing that, that would be perfect if Alabama is one of the tax free states. This whole mixup is happening because my Dad is listing his house for sale as of tomorrow morning. I was going to stay there during school, it's right around the corner from Millis, and use his Georgia address once I'm driving, but now he's looking at houses in Alabama apparently. If Alabama is a tax free state I'll absolutely go that route, otherwise I may just use my Mom's 30+ year home address in PA, at least that address won't be changing on me!
