So to recap the last week: When I came home I had the truck damage estimated, got my 90 day inspection done, went to a dentist and went to an ortho appt. Freightliner SLC estimated my damage around $600 and sent me the quote thru email, which I forwarded to my insurance. I plan to get it repaired at a Chicagoland dealer, or the Gary OC if they do that. Dentist said my tooth isn't strong enough to hold a filling and I'll need a crown instead. Problem is I don't have $760 to pay for a crown so I've still got a skeleton tooth until I can find the money. Ortho did an x-ray and discovered my bone was healing very crooked. So they injected some painkillers and re-broke the bone for realignment purposes. They then put me in a fiberglass splint and set an appointment for Thursday the 13th. So now my plan is to be in Chicago by Saturday or Sunday the 8th or 9th. I'll have the truck repaired while I fly from Chicago to Southern California for my wedding food tasting, where I'll meet my wife and in-laws. Wednesday night I'll ride home to Utah with my in-laws, and I'll make my ortho appt. If my hand heals well, I'll be put in a cast for another couple of weeks. It feels like it's healing much better this time, as there's no wiggle room with the fiberglass vs the cheap plaster I had before. After that appt I fly from Salt Lake back to Chicago Thursday night and start work again Friday morning, assuming the truck is ready. And thank you to whoever suggested flying home. Chicago Midway to San Diego and Salt Lake back to Midway thru Southwest only cost me $190. The Chicago-San Diego flight alone was only $61!! Of course I've gotta get an Uber to and from Midway but a friend from orientation said if he's in Chicago around that time he'll give me a ride as close as he can to Midway, so there's that. As for loads, I went Salt Lake to Denver, DFW, St Louis, and now in Indy starting a trip to Huntsville AL. I've planned myself out to the 1st to stay in the Midwest, and won't dare travel east of Ohio unless I can find something good going in and right back out in succession.
At least he’s wise enough to know he had an issue and is taking folks advice on this...those who get stubborn usually don’t succeed..
reminded yes, initial idea shared no. happy to take credit where due but this isnt one of those times ..
@plynnjr92, you might want to get in touch with Schneider finance and see what they can do about suspending payments for a couple of weeks as well. They'll work with you so long as you're proactive. If you just blow them off, you get what you get. Good luck
Ok if Schneiders average revenue to the truck is $3800, then shouldn't the drivers be getting a bit more coin???
DAVE!! What are you DOING! How does this question push forward your plan to chase drivers away from your loads with Landstar??? Oh, wait! Was I supposed to not say that out loud?
TL;DR down below: Today was a crazy day. Picked up my load in Huntsville AL going to Saginaw MI when I got a message saying my pickup after Saginaw was cancelled by the customer. So as I was hooking up my trailer I called my BOA and had her take all my preplans off so I could start planning fresh again. Found a Kalamazoo MI to Cedar Rapids IA, Cedar Rapids to Fort Wayne IN, Fort Wayne to Washington Court House, OH, and an additional load to cap off at like $4150 for the week. As soon as I stopped for the day outside Louisville KY, I got a message saying my Kalamazoo pickup was pushed back from midnight-12pm Friday to 5pm Friday. This put all my other loads in jeopardy, so I called my BOA again and she suggested inserting a shipment if possible. I found a SINGLE load going from Kalamazoo to Cedar Rapids that I could take, picking up at 8am and delivering same day. Over 500mi in one day is a bit over my preferred 440 but I have the hours to do it. So I sent an insert shipment request but it came back as a no, saying it wasn't doable. Unsatisfied, I called support as my BOA was gone for the day and they would remove all of my preplans so I could book them up again one at a time, with no guarantee they'd all be there as they're back on the public board. I wrote down all my load #s and he took my loads off. So I went booking my loads again, booking the new Kalamazoo to Cedar Rapids load without issue. The next load I messed up, booking my Fort Wayne to Washington Court House load next. I needed to book the Cedar Rapids to Fort Wayne load next but got in a hurry. So I begrudgingly submitted another insert shipment request for this load, and crossed my fingers.. and it went through!! I changed my preplan after Washington Court House to a Vandalia OH to Newport MI load, as the previous load I had on there picked up a little too late in the day. TL;DR So basically: Got a preplan cancelled Cleared my remaining preplans because of it Assigned all new preplans for the week Got a preplan pickup delay that would render other preplans late Attempted insert new shipment but failed Cleared my preplans a 2nd time Re-assigned my preplans out of order Attempted a 2nd insert shipment request that succeeded Changed last preplanned load for time purposes My revenue goes from $4150 to around $3990ish, but I won't be setup too badly sitting just north of Toledo OH.
