Tickets for parking illegally? It happens. All of us have parked illegally at one point or another, especially in the elog era. Some of us have received tickets, some of us haven't.
Speak for yourself. It's not hard to not park illegally if you actually trip plan. Annoying at times as the day may end up shorter than one would like, but even with the parking issues of now it's doable.
Granted, the people that parked there and ignored the no parking signs were in the wrong. Technically anyway. But I doubt that if the State DPS troopers were the agency responsible for parking enforcement, there would be as many tickets issued. The city of Cumby is using this as a cash cow and will continue to do so. And there will be no shortage of new victims.
Well, Cumby could "boot" you and you have to walk two miles to the courthouse in town to pay the ticket before they remove it. Wouldn't that just make your day? Better not give them any ideas or those idiots might just try that.
As I've said, everyone has made the mistake of parking illegally. We all have been rookies and we all have been inexperienced drivers. You can perpetuate the narrative that you've done everything perfect in your trucking career if you want lol but I know better. Ain't nobody perfect. That said, yes. Trip planning is important. I do agree to having a shorter day is sometimes necessary and annoying if you gotta find legal parking. Sometimes you goof, and sometimes a plan get derailed.
And sometimes when you're getting unloaded you say to yourself, "If out of here in an hour, choice A, B, or C. And if it's 2 hours, choices B or C. And if it's 3 hours, choice C. And if it's any longer than that, I politely tell them I'll be spending the night." It ain't rocket science, folks and there's any number of tools you can use to PLAN YOUR DAY.
Don't disagree. Sometimes drivers learn the hard way, and sometimes it's inadvertent. Some places don't care if you're out of time and they still run you off. It's happened to me multiple times. Politely telling them "you'll be spending the night" is not going to go over well at every shipper/receiver. It sounds nice though. Majority of the time adequate trip planning does yield good results. Some times we make an error in judgment and sometimes things out of a driver's control derails plans A, B, amd C. The point is, people make mistakes and errors in judgment. OP will probably never make that error again if he can help it.
Would you stop saying EVERYBODY makes mistakes and has parked illegally. It wasn't a MISTAKE. It was a DECISION, YOU made. EVERYBODY doesn't park illegally, hit stuff every now and then, etc. and that doesn't mean we're saying we're perfect.
