Rayfan, I'm in Tampa too. Went to Roadmasters in Dec, 06, spent 3 years on the road and came off but am considering going back if I can't land a local job.

I'd be happy to answer questions in more detail if you want. Shoot me a pm and maybe we can talk on the phone, up to you though. Just offering.

If you already have your CDL in your pocket you shouldn't have to pay any company anything from this point on. I'd run from anyone who ask for $$ just to let you drive their trucks.

Give these companies a call. I know for a fact they all hire students (recent cdl grads) and hire out of Florida and they are all decent companies.

    Crete Carriers
    Con-Way Truckload
    May Trucking
FFE - not sure about Florida for these guys
    Covenant Tranport
    US Express

There's others but that should get ya started.

I've never heard of a company reimbursing your CDL training after the fact. Some companies (they're few and far between) do have programs that do sponser someone and I believe help with the bill but that has to be worked out beforehand as far as I know.

I have, however, heard of recruiters lying to get you in the door. That includes recruiters for trade schools. It's kind of a moot point for this OP because he already has his CDL and doesn't need to go to Roadmasters.
